One important point to note is the difference between a circuit breaker and a safety switch. Safety switches are designed to protect against electrocution and protect people against injury or death. In contrast, a circuit breaker will protect appliances, not people, by safeguarding against the overload of electric circuits.
How To Test Your Safety Switch
2. Press the test button – the switch should flip to the ‘Off’ position (down)
3. Reset the switch by pushing it back to the ‘On’ position (up)
